Ester‐based surfactants: Are they stable enough?
نویسندگان
چکیده
Surfactants with an ester bond connecting the polar headgroup and hydrophobic tail are common. They easy to synthesize, they can often be made from natural raw materials their biodegradation profile is generally good, partly due lipase or esterase catalyzed breakdown of in sewage plants. A labile molecule may cause problems, however. formulated at relatively high pH it important that remain intact for a given period time. In this article we discuss alkaline hydrolysis different types ester-based surfactants—cationic, anionic nonionic—and also surfactant mixtures. We show has pattern than bonds non-surface active uncharged molecules. Cationic surfactants hydrolyzed rapidly while nonionic ester-containing resistant hydrolysis.

Urinary Biomarkers: Alone Are They Enough?
The field of “novel” biomarkers for AKI is now well over 10 years old. During this era, tremendous amounts of time, effort, and money have been invested to develop clinically useful biomarkers for determination of risk, diagnosis, and prognosis. The search for clinical surrogate end points has centered on the biochemical analysis of body fluids and has not enlisted the use of imaging or molecul...
متن کاملRecursive Assertions are not enough - or are they?
Call a set of assertions sd complete (with respect to a class of programs .9') if for any p, a e sof and S e ,g', whenever 1/21.5{q} holds, then all intermediate assertions can be chosen from st This paper is devoted to the study of the problem which sets of assertions are complete in the above sense. We prove that any set of recursive assertions containing true and false is not complete. We pr...
متن کاملWomen's retirement expectations: how stable are they?
OBJECTIVE Using the National Longitudinal Survey of Mature Women, we examine between- and within-person differences in expected retirement age as a key element of the retirement planning process. The expectation typologies of 1,626 women born between 1923 and 1937 were classified jointly on the basis of specificity and consistency. METHODS Latent class analysis was used to determine retiremen...
متن کاملSoft quasicrystals – Why are they stable ?
In the last two years we have witnessed the exciting experimental discovery of soft matter with nontrivial quasiperiodic long-range order – a new form of matter termed a soft quasicrystal. Two groups have independently discovered such order in soft matter: Zeng et al. in a system of dendrimer liquid crystals; and Takano et al. in a system of ABC star-shaped polymers. These newly discovered soft...
متن کاملQALYs: are they enough? A health economist's perspective.
John Rawles's criticism of QALYs are seen as being both imprecise and largely unhelpful. This paper accepts that there are problems in both QALYs themselves and in the current decision-making processes with which they seek to help. The QALY pliers tend to play down the former and the QALY knockers the latter. It is suggested that theories (regret theory and prospect theory) other than expected ...
